A game of two halves saw Great Britain’s women hold, and even at stages lead, one of their Olympic Games opening round opponents before mistakes allowed Montenegro to stretch their two goal half time lead to fifteen by the end of the match.
Current men’s Olympic handball champions France will face Argentina, Iceland, Sweden, Great Britain and Tunisia in the opening rounds of this summer’s Olympic Games as they attempt to defend their title. In the women’s event the reigning champions Norway will be up against Denmark, France, Korea, Spain and Sweden.

Hosts Great Britain win their opening match of the women’s London Handball Cup against Angola 22-20 as they continued to gain experience ahead of next years Olympic Games. Held in the newly built Handball Arena in the Olympic Park in Stratford, London the tournament was part of the London Prepares series of test events.
Losing 24-16 doesn’t sound like a good result. Certainly not usually a reason to celebrate. But after their defeat to Russia in their 2012 European Handball Championship qualification match that is what the British women’s team did.
